Fairy tales from Malafeev and songs from Gerello

Zenit is taking part in the “Theater Ambulance” charity program. The program features a special crew that travels around St. Petersburg visiting children’s hospitals and orphanages. Zenit and Russian national team goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev read a fairy tale to young patients in St. Petersburg City Children’s Hospital №2 after Maria Magdalina as part of the program.

The decorated bus entered the courtyard of the medical institute at exactly twelve o’clock. The guests were met in the Russian style: the Mariinsky Theater baritone Vasily Gerello sung, and the role of the traditional bread loaf was fulfilled by a cake in the form of a miniature copy of the “ambulance” bus. As soon as Gerello left the bus he sang a short aria. Next Zenit goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev and his wife Marina came out of the bus in blue-white-sky blue scarves.
– Every child has a dream – to meet guests, said Anton Gubankov, head of the St. Petersburg Culture Committee. – I think the children’s dreams will come true today, because they’ll get to meet the champion.

Malafeev behind Rosina, Rosina behind Semak, Semak behind Kerzhakov, Kerzhakov behind Bystrov, Bystrov behind Spalletti, and Spalletti for the gold medal: they pulled and pulled, and pulled out the gold.

The first children who got the chance to make their dream come true came from the 11th ward. Sitting around the Zenit goalkeeper, they froze in expectation of the fairy tale. Malafeev prepared a special surprise for the children: they were given a football tale.
– And Spalletti called Malafeev, – Vyacheslav ended the fairy tale. – Malafeev behind Rosina, Rosina behind Semak, Semak behind Kerzhakov, Kerzhakov behind Bystrov, Bystrov behind Spalletti, and Spalletti for the gold medal: they pulled and pulled, and pulled out the gold! And who can say how we did it? Because we had teamwork. We support each other, and we’re supported by wonderful fans like you!!

The fairy tale ended and it was time to give gifts to the listeners: there were scarves, and books, and autographs, and photos together… Malafeev was especially intrigued by a young boy named Ilya, who had played football for five years, but then broke his spine. Ilya is giving all he's got to get back on the football pitch.
– The doctors say he’ll get back on his feet soon, and they believe that he’ll manage to play, – says Vyacheslav. – I wish him a quick recovery, and I hope that the signed cleats I have him will help him to return to the pitch.

The boys, in turn, asked the Zenit goalkeeper never to leave the club, and to always be in Zenit. The “Theater Ambulance” finished its visit with a concert by long-time Zenit fans Vasily Gerello.
