The victorious lions of St. Petersburg

The lion is a traditional symbol of St. Petersburg and Zenit. On Sunday, when Zenit was crowned 2010 Russian champion, the St. Petersburg lions were clothed in Zenit scarves.

Zenit fan clubs organized the event: by 11.00 a.m. on Sunday morning children from the SOS Children’s Village had put Zenit scarves on the famous lions of St. Petersburg’s Lviny Bridge across the Griboedov Canal. At 12:00 students from the Gatchnina boarding scool dressed 29 lions next to the Bezborodko dacha in blue-white-sky blue scarves, and an hour before the match students from Hertzen University clothed the lions on the Neva River bank alongside Palace Bridge in Zenit scarves.
