Our team will take off this Wednesday, February 2nd, for its second preseason practice session of this season. This time Zenit`s squad will fly to the Spanish city of Estepona. The preseason practices will last through February 16th, at which point Zenit will fly to the Swiss city of Bern for its first official match of the season on February 17th against Young Boys.
Zenit will have its first friendly match in Spain the day after it arrives in the Marbella Cup. In fact Zenit already won this tournament once before, in 2005. Luciano Spalletti`s side will play its first match on February 3rd at 18.00 St. Petersburg time versus Lokomotiv of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Two days later, on February 5th, Zenit will take on either Kuban (Krasnodar), or Polonia (Warsaw) depending on the result of the two teams` first round match. Zenit will have its third match in the tournament on February 8th, where it might meet any of the following teams: Sparta Prague, Dinamo Kiev, Zestafoni, or Dnepr.
It`s entirely possible that Zenit will play one more friendly match after the Marbella Cup. This will be decided by the coaching staff later on.
