Granatkin memorial tournament: St. Petersburg advanced to the semifinals and will play against Russia

On 16 January St. Petersburg won their quarter-final match to progress in the tournament in memory of the Russia's first FIFA vice-president Valentine Granatkin.

The St. Petersburg team, which includes twelve Gazprom Academy players, progressed past Slovakia in the quater finals. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Vartanian Ephraim scoring the only goal for the home side. St. Petersburg progressed to the semi-finals thanks to a penalty shoot, which they won 3: 2.

Gazprom Academy 'keeper, Vasiliy Fedosov, saved two penalties in the shootout and was man of the match.

In the semifinals Vladimir Kazachenko's team will play against Russia. The game will be held on 18 January and will begin at 19:00.

In the other semi-final, Greece and Kazakhstan will compete for a place in the final.
