Igor Simutenkov on the alleged rule violation in Italy

The Zenit U21 manager explained what happened to cause his team to forfeit the match in Italy with Empoli.
For In the tournament, there are two versions of the regulations, in Italian and English. In the English version, which we followed, it said you can make seven replacements, but in three-time intervals. The Italian version of rules has a different version with no time limit.

We have not violated the principle of sport, not did we exceed the number of substitutions, or use them at the wrong periods. By the way, Empoli have apparently also violated this rule, but they are no sanctions applied to them, as in the Italian regulations this point was not written. On the face of it we have double standards, Empoli as the team from the region, will get into the playoffs. Everything has been done in the interest of the Italian team. On the pitch they did not win it but have won it in the office.

An important point: the match referee did not know the rules either and did not react to the fact that we exceed the number of intervals for replacements. Immediately after the game, nobody said anything about Empoli filing a protest, we learned about it only on arrival at the hotel. We werfe given less than an hour to appeal, but since we only heard when we got to the hotel, it was too late.

The tournament organisers have apologised to us, for not informing the referees, and said that this regulation will be canceled for next year. But now we have forfeited the game.
