A dad who's a Navy chief, a love of snow and spending almost his entire career in Russia: 10 facts about Christian Noboa

1. Cristian Fernando Noboa Tello was born on 9th April 1985 in the largest city in Ecuador, Guayaquil. He began his career at Club Sport Emelec and won a runners-up medal in the Ecuadorian national championship. 

2. In 2007, the 22-year-old midfielder has signed by Rubin Kazan and became the first Ecuadorian to play in the Russian Premier League. While in Russia Christian saw snow for the first time and even tried to eat it! He later came down with pneumonia. 

3. Noboa played in Kazan for four years and twice won the Russian league title as well as the Russian Cup in the club's most successful ever spell. 

4. In 2011, Christian moved to Dynamo Moscow and was a runner-up in the Russian Cup. However, the trophies didn't come to Moscow during his three years with the team and in 2014/15 Christian left the club as a free agent. 

5. Christian then headed to Greece and joined PAOK. He only played 17 matches for the Greek Premier League team, scoring two goals. After six months the Ecuadorian headed back to Russia to Rostov-on-Don. 

6. Noboa was reunited with the coach who signed him at Rubin, Kurban Berdyev who was now in charge of Rostov. The Ecuadorian won another runners-up medal in the Russian Premier League and for the first time in his career was included in the list of the 33 best players in Russia. 

7. On 23 November last year, Christian scored the goal of the season for Rostov. A match winning performance also helped the Rostovites to a home win over European legends Bayern Munich and allowed them to finish third in their Champions League group. 

8. Christian cannot play in the first two rounds of the new Russian season due to a red card in the last match of the season while at Rostov. 

9. Noboa is an Ecuadorian international and so far has played 75 matches and scored 4 goals for his country. He played all three matches in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for Ecuador. 

10. Christian's father is a naval officer. In 2016, he became commander of the Navy of Ecuador!
