Thank you captain! Danny departs from Zenit

The Zenit captain has left the blue-white-sky blues after nine years at the club.
Miguel Danny moved to Zenit in the summer of 2008 from Dynamo Moscow and quickly became a favourite of the St. Petersburg fans - in his first match for the blue-white-sky blues he scored the winner against Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup in Monaco.

Danny wore the Zenit shirt in 255 matches and made an invaluable contribution to the three championships the team won during this time and was part of the team to win the club's fifth title and put the star above the club badge.

During his career at Zenit Danny showed incredible courage and personal strength, three times the midfielder received a cruciate ligament injury, other players have been forced to finish their careers due to such an injury but each time Danny came back and won his place back in the side.

Danny became an icon across Russia, one of the few foreign players to learn Russian, he and his wife Petra's daughter Emily was born in Russia, and his twin sons Bernardo and Francisco both play for Zenit at the Academy.

Danny - a true legend of the club, will be part of the club's walk of fame forever having left his footprints for the Museum of the blue-white-sky blues.

Zenit Football Club thank Miguel for the magnificent nine years in St. Petersburg and wish him every success in his future career.
