Vyacheslav Malafeev: "At Stadium St. Petersburg the football iw wonderful and it's great here!"

The four-time champion of Russia, two-time winner of the Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup, winner of the Premier League Cup, UEFA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and bronze medalist from Euro 2008 spoke to us about Sunday's ceremony.
The atmosphere is really great, but at the same time, there is a slight sadness. I've walked around the stadium and realise that it wasn't possible for me to play here. Then things calmed down a little and I understand that the things we did remain in the memory for many years, especially the first league championship, this will never be forgotten! Our subsequent victories we got used to it a bit and the joy wasn't as much, but 2007 will be remembered for a long time.

How do you like the stadium?

For a football player, it's awesome. It really is great here! It's cold outside, but it's warm inside. The atmosphere for both players and the fans is very good. Here you can relax, have a snack and it's a pleasure to be here, it was easy to park, but here you can get lost! Not like at Petrovsky.

Next week it's Spartak. Can you remember your most intense match against them?

They have always been very tense games because of the excitement, the pre-match discussions. The next meeting will be no exception. Spartak are now waking up and Zenit need to catch up. The match will be very tough and I do not know if there will be a lot of goals scored, but the game will be absolutely spectacular and tense.
