Anatoliy Tymoshchuk returns to Zenit
Ukrainian national team halfback Anatoliy Tymoshchuk will continue his career in Zenit from July 1. Tymoshchuk’s new contract is for 2 years.

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk was born on March 30, 1979 in the Ukrainian city of Lutsk and began his football career in the local club Volyn Lutsk (67 matches, 8 goals). Tymoshchuk then moved to Shakhtar Donetsk in 1998, where he played 326 matches and scored 39 goals. He won the Ukrainian championship three times with Shakhtar, as well as three Ukrainian Cups and the Ukrainian Super Cup.

Tymoshchuk became a Zenit player in 2007. He won the Russian Premier League, the Russian Super Cup, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with Zenit. He played 100 matches and scored 18 goals in a Zenit uniform.

Tymoshchuk then signed a contract with Bayern Munich on July 1, 2009. He played 132 matches and scored 6 goals for Bayern. He won the German Bundesliga twice, the German Cup twice, the German Super Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League with the Munich side.

Anatoliy is also the Ukrainian national team captain. He debuted for his national side on April 26, 2000, in a friendly match vs. Bulgaria (1:0). He is the record-holder for most caps for the Ukrainian national team, with 127.

Tymoshchuk plays as a defensive central midfielder. He is an honorary master of sport of Ukraine (2005) and Russia(2008) for his sporting achievements on the domestic and international arena.
