The legendary goalkeeper of the blue-white-sky blue was born in 1921 in Petrograd.
Leonid Ivanov played his first official match for the blue-white-sky blues aged 17 years old, this is the earliest goalkeeping debut in the history of Zenit. In 1944, he became one of the main heroes of the USSR Cup win. Its brilliant game in the semi-finals and finals helped "Zenith" to win the first trophy in the club's history.
The best seasons for Leonid Ivanov came in the 1940 and 50's, when on four occasions he was recognized the best goalkeeper in the country and won the title of Honored Master of Sports. In 1952 he kept goal for the USSR during its debut at the Olympic Games in Helsinki.
