Andre Villas-Boas: "The Cup is a trophy we want to win"

The Head coach on a tactical confrontation with Slutsky, the fitness of the team before the Cup final and the chance to win the trophy for the fourth time in history.
Can you tell us about the condition of the team before the final with CSKA Moscow and how do you feel?

Well, the problem is that the date hasn't given us a lot of time to change the mood for the final, it comes in the middle of the championship so we haven't had any time to feel any different or anticipation, we played two or three days ago and we play again in two days. We don't have that build up that you usually get for these games. It's unfortunate but it's for the benefit of the national teams, for the players and the build-up for the euros. It's unfortunate but it's the situation.

Zenit have recently used different  formations and line-ups with Hulk and Dzyuba up front in a two. Do you have any preferences for this match, given the fact that CSKA might play with three central defenders, like Rostov?

No, I don't think that Slutsky will try and mimic the tactics of another coach or club, they have played with this system before and there is a chance they might make some changes. We have also tried new things recently as we have lost Danny. We haven't decided what we will do for the final. Slutsky is also in a similar position, firstly he recovered his players and today he will have time to test new things, both teams will keep doing with what they were doing before. Both teams could play as they have before or throw in some surprises, but I don't think Slutsky will copy another team.

What match was more useful for getting information about your team, the match against Rostov or the match against Kuban

The game before is always the most important, that's the match against Kuban, we've forgotten about Rostov, then the most important match for us will be the final!

Whats better for you and your team to play the match now or at the end of the season?

No, It's not an ideal situation, it was agreed for the benefit fo the national teams and the players, because we could have used a few weeks before to play some midweek games for the final to be on 21st, then it was booked at the end of May, after the leagues have finished and the same date as the Champions League final, which is usually the last game of the season. So it was not an ideal date from the beginning, so it has been moved. For us we are indifferent, it's not ideal but it's similar for us and CSKA, we are the teams fighting for the title, along with Rostov, Lokomitiv and Krasnodar. So it's the same for us and CSKA.

Is the team all fit and ready? And before the game against Spartak you said you wanted to win your last game against them, this is your last game against CSKA and Slutsky and he has never beaten you, is this important?

Regarding the physical side, everyone is fit and we will train to do, we still have some time and at the moment everyone is fit to train. The second part of the question, I don't think it's important for any individual, the important thing is to win the Cup, it signifies a trophy and that's what both coaches want.
