A new stadium for Zenit

A new football stadium is currently being built in place of the former Kirov Stadium in the Primorsky Victory Park in the western part of Krestovsky Island in St. Petersburg.

Competition

A competition for the best design of the new stadium was announced on November 15, 2005. The competition results were tallied on August 23rd, 2006, in the St. Petersburg city government office. A commission of experts for determining the best architectural solution for the project of building a new football stadium unanimously chose the Japanese project “Spaceship” by “Kisho Kurokawa Architect & Associates”.
