Biography

<p>André Villas-Boas was born on October 17, 1977 in Porto, Portugal. He began working with Sir Bobby Robson in FC Porto at the age of 17 and was a coach`s assistant and coach of children`s and youth teams in FC Porto`s Academy. <br><br>Villas-Boas began working as an administrator of the British Virgin Islands national youth teams in 2000, after which he became the first national team`s technical director.</p>
<p>After returning to Portugal, Villas-Boas started training FC Porto`s youth team. He then started working as assistant to José Mourinho in 2003, with whom he also worked later in Chelsea and Inter. <br><br>Villas-Boas began his own independent management career in 2009, heading FC Académica. He went on to be head coach of FC Porto, Chelsea, and Tottenham.</p>
<p>Villas-Boas became Portuguese champion with FC Porto 2011, while also winning the Portuguese Cup and SuperCup, and the UEFA Europa League all in the same season. FC Porto won 27 out of 30 matches in the Portuguese League in his first year in charge, with three draws. Villas-Boas was named Coach of the Year in Portugal in 2011. <br><br>Villas-Boas was twice voted Coach of the Month in the English Premier League with Chelsea and Tottenham.</p>
