Alexander Anyukov was born on September 28, 1982, in Kuibyshev (now Samara). He began playing football at the age of six, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Alexey, a professional footballer who played for the teams Lada-SOK and Yunit. Anyukov started the 2000 season in the second division, playing for Krylia Sovetov-2. Anyukov`s hard-working, self-sacrificing style of play appealed to the head trainer of Krylia Sovetov, and the defender soon started training with the first team of the Samara club. Anyukov debuted for the first Samara team on September 10, 2000, in a Russian Cup match against Zhemchuzhina.
Alexander debuted in the Russian Premier League on October 14, 2000, in a match between Krylia Sovetov and Zenit. The match was won by Zenit 1:0. Anyukov played for Russia`s national youth teams, and has been regularly playing for Russia`s first team since 2004. Anyukov played in EURO 2004. Four years later Anyukov played in all five of Russia’s matches in EURO 2008, then again in all three of Russia's matches in EURO 2012.
Anyukov came to FC Zenit in July, 2005, and has won the Russian Premier League, the Russian Super Cup, the UEFA CUP and the UEFA Super Cup in the blue-white-sky blue colors. Alexander became an Honored Master of Sports of Russia in 2008. There are few outside fullbacks in Russia who are as fast, mobile, and tenacious in defense as Anyukov is. And Anyukov`s taste for playing in the attack is even more rare.
