Alexander Kerzhakov: “Fans like matches like that”

Zenit`s forward repeated the historic club record for most goals scored in a Zenit uniform set by Lev Burchalkin – 78 goals – in the match with Spartak Nalchik.

— Zenit completely controlled the whole first half of the match. What happened in the second half?
— Our opponent pushed and scored. We got ahead a second time, but Spartak managed to tie us again. That`s football.

— Congratulations on scoring your 78th goal for Zenit!
— Thanks.

— Were you thinking before the match that you could score a historic goal and catch up to Lev Burchalkin?
— I came out in the match with the idea of playing well and winning. It`s really disappointing that we didn`t manage that.

— The passing combination that led to your goal was just beautiful...
— Danny gave me a really good pass. All I had to do was stick my leg out.

— It looked like you got injured in one episode...
— Ya, I got hurt a little. Today`s match was rough, and the field made it possible to fight a lot for the ball.

— You didn`t like the field?
— The field was great, it`s just that it`s really soft. There`s always a lot of fighting on a field like that. Plus you can be sure that the ball won`t move fast on that grass, and there will be a lot of passes in the air. And that`s just what happened. But again, the field was good. It`s one of the best natural fields in Russia.

— Has Spartak changed at all since Eshtrekov came to the team?
— No, they still score two goals against us in every match, just like before.

— Are Zenit and Spartak Nalchik two teams that are made for each other?
— (Smiles.) I think fans like matches like that.
