Branislav Ivanovic: "When we were on the metro I felt that the city was with us and we were with the city"

The blue-white-sky blue defender on the upcoming game with Anzhi, keeping up with Spartak and playing with Nicolas Lombaerts.
You beat Rubin, but Dzyuba said that the game was mixed, what did you think about it?

We won and were pleased that we took the three points. We have already forgotten this game and are now preparing for the upcoming match. For us, every game is the most important. We must do everything we can to get three points in every match and keep playing at a good level.

What do you know about the opposition?

We have already studied their style of play. They're not going to give in easily and will try and take the points from us. After the Anzhi game will be Spartak, the most important game of the season, but that does not mean that in the next match we can relax. We need to win.

Zenit will play their last match at Peterovsky, does it feel like your home stadium already?

It's still new for me here, I've only played here a few times. This is historic for the club and the fans, who will long remember the Peterovsky, the team have achieved a lot of success there and I hope that we will say goodbye to the stadium with a victory.

Are you keeping track of the performances of Spartak? Do you think they are too lucky?

Of course, we are watching them, but that doesn't mean anything. We should pay attention to what we are doing. We must try to win. We wish, of course they lost points in other games, but we can't influence it.

What is the main danger from Anzhi?

Anzhi are a good team that play on the counterattack and try to score. But we have to play at a level that does not allow them to score. Our defensive game will be very dependent on the result.

Previously Anzhi had a lot of star players. Do you know anyone in the team?

Yes I know, some of them and we have seen them on video. Stars or not stars, most importantly is how the team plays. I think they have a lot of good players who can cause us problems.

How are you and Lombaerts getting on? What language do you communicate in?

We communicate in English. Nico is a very cool, experienced player. I've know him for a long time, since the days when I was in Russia. For many years he has played at this level, he's been a big success.

You went down on the St. Petersburg metro. How was this moment?

This is a difficult moment for the city and its inhabitants. We just did something small. When we were on the metro I felt that the city was with us and we were with the city.
