Konstantin Sarsania has passed away unexpectedly

The club are extremely sad to announce that the Zenit Sporting Director died suddenly today aged 49.
Konstantin Sergeevich Sarsania was born on 11 June 1968 in Moscow and began his professional football career in the USSR, playing in both the first and second divisions. He later headed to France, where he played for Lens, Dunkirk and J.A Armentieres.

After his playing career, he became a FIFA licensed agent and began working behind the scenes in professional football. In 2006 he became Zenit's Sporting Director and in 2008 he became an adviser to the Club President regarding transfer policy. Since 2010 he has worked as an advisor to the Russian Football Union.

In the summer of 2017, Mr. Sarsania returned to Zenit as Sporting Director.

Konstantin Sarsania helped assemble the blue-white-sky blue squad that won the league championship for the first time in the Russian-era and went on to win two European trophies, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Konstantin will be remembered by everyone who knew him, as an open, positive and charming man, a great professional and a wonderful human being.

The club wish to express our deep condolences to the family and friends of Konstantin Sarsania on this very sad day.
