The event was organised by Pulkovo Airport and Rossiya Airlines and was timed to coincide with the many Christmas fairs which take place from the end of November onwards across many major European cities. 

Germany is one of the most important destinations on the route map of Rossiya Airlines and flights to Hamburg and Dusseldorf take off exclusively from Pulkovo airport. Near the airline's check-in counters passengers were met by flight attendants wearing traditional German national dress and were able to try German Christmas treats, as well as watch the dancing performed by the group Groove Dance.

Yuri Lodygin and Denis Terentyev met with Rossiya airline passengers, had selfies taken with them and signed autographs.

Rossiya Airline is a member of the Aeroflot Group. Rossiya are the second largest airline in Russia and one of the most popular brands in St. Petersburg, they are also the official carrier of Zenit. The airline's route network in the winter of 2017/18 includes almost 100 domestic and international destinations. Rossiya's fleet includes 15 Boeing 737-800's, 31 Airbus A320's, 6 Boeing 777's  and 9 Boeing 747's.
