On 12 January the first team squad are due to return from their holidays over the following three days attend the SOGAZ Medical Centre to undertake their pre-season medicals. On 15 January the team will head to Qatar, where they will take part in the Fonbet Match Premier Cup at the Aspire Sports Complex.

The Gazprom Training Camp in Qatar will end on 28 January and the players will receive three days off. On 1 February the blue-white-sky blues fly to Spain, where they will train for 10 days. From there, Zenit will fly on to Istanbul for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout stage with Fenerbahce, the game will take place on 12 February. 

After the European match, the team will return to St. Petersburg and will workout at the Gazprom Training Centre before the return leg with the Turkish side. From 24 February to 1 March, Zenit will hold a third Gazprom Training Camp in Turkey. On 3 March, the Russian Premier League season resumes with an away match with Ural in  Yekaterinburg.
