Claudio Marchisio: “I'm very surprised at how St. Petersburg has changed in winter”
The Italian midfielders first interview of 2019.
At Christmas I went to Turin with my family and then we went to a warm country, where we spent a lot of time on the beach. I tried to devote all this time to my children and I played with them every day. But now it's time for football and hard work.
Christmas is a very important holiday for all Italians. What did you give to your loved ones?
Yes, this is an important holiday, but it is important that it is not about gifts, but about traditions. I gave my children shirts and a ball, and my wife some small gift.
Did you get anything?
No, because, as I said, Christmas isn't just about presents.
In 2018 you had a busy cultural program in St. Petersburg, you've been to the Hermitage and the Russian Museum. Have you made your plans for 2019 yet?
You know, I arrived back in St. Petersburg only yesterday, and I was very surprised at how the city has changed in winter. I've never seen so much snow! Everything is frozen and it looks magical! So to start with I will simply enjoy the beauty and then we'll see.
