Sardar Azmoun moved to Zenit on 1 February 2019 and while with Iran, his Iranian national team, he took part in the Asian Cup and reached the semifinals of the tournament. After the tournament Azmoun had a few more days off to get back to full fitness.

The striker has been registered in the Russian Premier Liga and for the UEFA Europa League and will wear number 7.
