The players pay their respects to the victims of World War II on the eve of Victory Day

Sergei Semak and the players headed to the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery to lay a wreath for the civilians and soldiers who died defending Leningrad in the war.
Visiting one of the largest memorial cemeteries on the eve of Victory Day is an annual tradition for the club and the players. Around 420,000 civilians and 50,000 soldiers from the battle for Leningrad are buried at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery.

Club captains Branislav Ivanovic and Alexander Anyukov laid the wreath at the eternal flame and were accompanied by players and pupils of the Gazprom Academy.

Russia celebrates Victory Day on 9th May each year and on that day we remember those who gave their lives so that we may live in freedom.
