Branislav, it was an intense 90 minutes, but Zenit to have everything under control.
Yes the game was tense and today we gave everything out there as a team and this was three days after the match with Lyon, we managed to come together and have a good match. So these are a big three points for us.
How did you change things in the second half after Ozdoev’s red card?
It’s hard to play such a match with 10 men but we played well enough, except for a few chances when we allowed them to get through on goal. I believe that we deserved the win.
This is second home match in a row Zenit have kept a clean sheet. Have you reached defensive peak?
Since the beginning of the season we have been playing well in defense and the credit should go to all the team, not just us defenders. The whole team plays with discipline for 90 minutes, so we rarely concede.
This is the second time this season you’ve beaten Spartak 1-0, were the games similar?
It's hard to compare, in Moscow everything was completely different. They have changed their manager, their style of play since then. They have improved and we can see a change in style to how they approach the game. I think today we took the most important three points of the season so far.
This is the first time in seven years that Zenit have beaten Spartak home and away in one season, are Zenit head and shoulders above Spartak?
Statistics are sometimes deceiving and we do not look at them. I can’t say that we are much better than the other team in the league. We depend on ourselves to win in the league.
