A quick-fire interview with our Venezuelan defender.
Yordan Osorio: “I’ve dreamed about winning the Russian league with Zenit”

Describe Russia in one word, but you can’t say cold!

Huge! Russia is a very big country, the long flights have shown me that.

What did you think when you first saw Russian snow?

I thought “Wow, how beautiful!” I had never seen anything like it before.

What is the most difficult think about living in St. Petersburg?

The cold weather. I’m not used to it at all, I’ve never experienced a temperature less than +10 and that was in Portugal. In Venezuela, it’s +30 all year round.

What’s the Russian word you use the most?

Davai! (Come on!)

What your favourite Venezuelan food?

Arepa. This is a type of food made of ground maize dough and has different fillings, meat, chicken, anything. Most of all I love arepa with chicken and cheese.

Do you miss that being in Russia?

Of course! This is one of the most common treats in my homeland, I really miss it.

Do you cook at home yourself?

Yes. And I cook arepa too. The main cook in my family is my wife, but sometimes I cook something special for her.

What’s your best dish?

White fish. It will make you lick your fingers!

What are your top 5 Instagram accounts you follow?

The Venezuelan national team, Zenit, Porto, Vitoria Guimaraes and Real Madrid.

And what about people?

My Zenit teammates.

Do you ever dream about football? What was the last one?

I’ve dreamed about winning the Russian league with Zenit.

If there was no football in the world, what would you do?

What are you talking about? There can’t be a world without football!

Have you got a nickname at Zenit?

Everyone just calls me Oso, from my last name.

Oso, in Spanish, means bear?

Yes, and I'm just as strong!

Do you have bears in Venezuela?

No, we do in Russia!
