On Friday 10 July the city council commission met and voted on the name change of the station from Novokrestovskaya to Zenit. 

In Autumn 2019, the club and our supporters started a campaign to rename the metro station.

Zenit CEO Alexander Medvedev responded on the successful campaign: "We thank the city for their decision and understand that renaming the station can be a major financial expense as the entire networks' plans, maps and other information will a;; need to be redesigned with the new metro station name, and so the club will take on a significant part of the costs related to renaming the station."

Since the opening of Gazprom Arena, more than two million people have visited the stadium. The urban infrastructure around the arena has been significantly developed, including the Lakhta Center - the tallest building in Europe at 462 meters.
