Russia won the game thanks to goals from Anton Miranchuk (15), Magomed Ozdoev (33) and Mario Fernandes (47), with Hungary fighting back from being 3-0 down thanks to goals from Sallai (63) and Nikolic (71). Russia have now won two out of two in the UEFA Nations League.

Artem Dzyuba played the whole match as captain and got an assist for the Mario Fernandes goal, Magomed Ozdoev scored his fourth goal in 23 games for Russia, Yuri Zhirkov came out in the 58th minute replacing Daler Kuzyaev, with Vyacheslav Karavaev coming on in the 73rd minute replacing Alexei Ionov.

Russia next play on 8 October against Sweden in a friendly and Turkey on 11 October in the UEFA Nations League.
