Match report from Zenit-2's win over Kolomna

Zenit-2 returned to winning ways in some style on Thursday afternoon as Saba Sazanov’s injury time winner saw the blue-white-sky blues triumph over Kolomna 1-0.

The game was tense and nerves were on display from both teams throughout the match. Both sides missing gilt-edged chances to take the lead.

Our boys were pushing to the very end to grind out a result but even in the 90th minute, were struggling to keep control of the ball in the opposition area. A free kick deep within Zenit’s half allowed the side to move the ball quickly up the pitch before playing a long ball into the area. Kirill Krastov prevented any chance of a clearance by attempting a shot from range. Alexander Elovskikh kept the play alive and laid the ball off to Valentin Solodarenko. The substitute then played it left to Maxim Levin. The winger returned the ball to Elovskikh who floated a deep cross in from the left wing with his right boot. The ball appeared to bounce over everyone, including Kolomna keeper Vladimir Yampolskiy, however Sazanov was aware at the back post to head the ball into an empty goal, sealing the win in the final seconds.

Zenit currently sit in 5th in the PFL, however can move up the table with a win against Wednesday’s opponents, Chita.
