Happy birthday to Zenit legend Anatoly Davydov

The Zenit record appearance holder and Gazprom Academy director celebrates his 68th birthday on 13 November.

Anatoly Davydov was born on 13 November 1953 in Tula and joined Zenit in 1975, he went on to set the club's record for appearances, playing 456 matches for the blue-white-sky blues and winning the league title in 1984. 

After initially leaving Zenit in 1988 and playing-on in Russia, Finland and China, he rejoined Zenit and played once again for the club in 1997, including playing on the same pitch as son Dmitri. He retired from playing that same year aged 43 and joined Zenit's coaching staff. In 1998 he became the club's head coach and in May 1999 led Zenit to the Russian Cup, the club's first trophy in the Russian-era.

Since then he has held various roles within the club including first-team manager, Zenit-2 head coach, academy coach and Gazprom Academy Director, a role he has held since December 2017.
