Dejan Lovren: "We have nothing to lose so we should enjoy the game"

The Zenit captain spoke to the media ahead of the visit of Chelsea tomorrow in the UEFA Champions League.
Dejan Lovren: "We have nothing to lose so we should enjoy the game"

You’ve played against Chelsea many times, what memories do you have from these games?

The games we won against Chelsea! We’ve played them many times and the one I remember was when we won 2-1 or 3-1 at Chelsea, I scored so that’s why I remember it!

The match tomorrow is a dead-rubber and doesn’t matter about qualification, will this affect how you play? Will you be more open and attacking?

It matters a lot to us, for our confidence for our next game on Sunday. We’re really focused for tomorrow and we’re playing for pride, the badge on the shirt, and for our supporters at home. We want to finish well, with our heads held high. We have nothing to lose so we should enjoy the game and play our best football tomorrow.

Is the match v Dynamo on Sunday more important than the match with Chelsea and are you focusing on Sunday?

The most important is the next match, we’re focused on that and after that we’ll focus on the game on Sunday. As I said, it’s really important for us and the team to give our best tomorrow, to get confidence for Sunday’s game. Everything depends on us, everything is in our hands.

Chelsea have a number of injuries and are already through to the next round, what are you expecting from them?

Chelsea are a top team and the philosophy of their manager is always to win, they won’t come here to sit back and wait. They know what they want and they have a system they like to play. Injury-wise might be a plus to us, but if we defend well all together like we did in the game there, we’ll have our chances and should use them.
