Welcome to Zenit! How do you feel about making this move?
To be honest, I'm still in shock! This is a very big challenge and Zenit are a big club. I will try to do my best to show that I am worthy of this challenge. Everyone gets a chance in life and you have to grasp that chance, I think this is my big chance. Zenit are the top club, the champions and this is a huge step-up in my career, and I will try my best for the team.
What does this challenge mean for you personally? Have you set yourself any targets?
I haven't thought about specific targets yet, but my main task is to help the team, to get us wins. Everything else is secondary.
How did you learn about the interest from Zenit?
My agent called me and said that Zenit were interested, I was on holiday at the time in my hometown at the time.
When you played for Strogino early in your career, Alexei Sutormin was also there. Did you speak with him before the move?
Not yet, we did speak when we were both with the Russian team recently and we discussed old times then. I know Sutormin the best of all the Zenit players, but I also know Slava Karavaev and Alexander Erokhin, who I’ve met on international duty. I will soon get to know the rest of the squad and I know that as a team Zenit are very good and it’s a cool place to be.
