Sergei Semak: "The most important thing is there were no injuries"

The Zenit manager spoke to us after the 3-0 win over Emirates Club at the Gazprom Training Camp in Dubai.
Sergei Semak: "The most important thing is there were no injuries"

You won your first friendly of the year. What were the good points from it and are there any you’re dissatisfied with?

I liked it, yes it was a friendly and the most important thing is there were no injuries, although the game was quite tough at times. It's good that after the match everyone is fit. Some played 45 minutes and some played more. Now we’ll get ready for the next game.

Today, Saus and Kim played and now have their first training camp with the first team. Any thoughts on their game?

I feel positive. We brought them here to see how they play and to understand if we can use them in the first team and in training. They got enough game time today.

A number of players were missing from the first XI today. What is the reason for this?

There are different reasons. Malcom, Wendel and Azmoun are still recovering from injuries and are not yet back fully with the first team There are reasons for others not playing or training ahead of the match.

You said you liked how the game went. Do you think of this as a training match?

It’s like a real game for me. We do get to look at how the players do in certain positions and we wanted to see some good chances made in the game, but as we were missing so many players it made it harder to have these moments or talk about how the players interacted.
