Douglas dos Santos Justino de Melo was born on 22 March 1994 in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. He began his career at Nautico club and made his debut in February 2012. He went om to play for Granada, Udinese, Atlético Mineiro and Hamburg. In 2016 he won an Olympic gold medal with Brazil after making his international debut in May 2016 against Panama. 

Douglas Santos joined Zenit in July 2019 and has played 101 matches for the blue-white-sky blues, having scored three goals and made 18 assists in that time. While at Zenit he has won two league titles, the Russian Cup and two Super Cups.
