Zenit Fans played an international friendly against Black Diamond

The official Zenit Fan team took on Black Diamond, a football club for Africans living in St. Petersburg, in a friendly at the Gazprom Academy.

Black Diamond is made up of players from Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa, all of the squad live full time in Russia and either study or work here.

The match was played in as an 8-a-side game with two halves of 30 minutes. Zenit Fans won the game 2-1 after a taking the lead in the first half, however Black Diamond leveled and the match was 1-1 at the break. 

Former Russian international and manager of Zenit Fans Dmitri Radchenko told us: "The idea is very good, to play an international match, it was great. We wanted to play a passing game with combinations and we had a productive match. The opposition were very good, they clearly play together as a team. They were very quick and played some good football."

Zenit Fans next face Dynamo Moscow Fans as part of the Rossiya Airlines tournament next Sunday in Novogorsk, while Black Diamond are heading to Moscow on Thursday to take part in a tournament for African teams in Russia, and everyone at Zenit wish them all the best and hope they bring the trophy back to St. Petersburg!
