Alexander Medvedev spoke on the opening of the room: "At Zenit we pay great attention to the development of accessible and inclusive environment projects. The Gazprom Arena is one of the most comfortable stadiums in Russia for all our fans, including people with special needs."
"Together with the charity Social Responsibility Foundation, we are taking our accessible environment to the next level with this sensory room at the Gazprom Arena, and its for everyone who wants to use needs it. There are similar projects at many sports clubs around the world and Zenit are now the first football club in Russia to open a sensory room at its stadium thanks to the support of Gazprombank's fund.
Alexey Smertin, RFU's Director of Social Responsibility tols us: "I believe that football is not only 90 minutes, It's a social phenomenon and not just a sporting one. The stadium in St. Petersburg is exemplary, because there is audio commentary for blind supporters, sign language translation, and great seating for wheelchair users. Everyone can come and support the the team and now kids with this special need can also come to the match and socialise through football. This is one of our big aims.
The Gazprom Arena's sensory room is a specially designed annd combines a range of stimuli to help individuals develop and engage their senses. This includes lights, colours, sounds and sensory soft play toys. All are used within its safe environment and allows the person using it to explore and interact without risk.
Everyone at Zenit wishes to thank our partners for their hard work in creating this inclusive and barrier-free environment for our fans at the stadium.
