Gustavo Mantuan: “There were so many chances to score, but we didn’t take them”

The Brazilian midfielder spoke to us about the match in Orenburg.
Gustavo Mantuan: “There were so many chances to score, but we didn’t take them”

The match was a failure, we lost and missed the opportunity to get the three points. These points are very important for us in the race for the title. We can’t complain as we made a lot of mistakes and we need to work on them and avoid them in the future. The next game is in a few days, so we need to focus on that now. But, we cannot forget what happened today.

Why did things go wrong? We aren’t used to seeing Zenit losing like this, can you fix things?

We created a lot of chances today and we had a lot of shots on goal, more than them. It’s just this way, unfortunately, we didn’t get the ball into the back of the net, it happens, and this is football. They scored their goals and we didn’t. I understand where we made mistakes as a team, and made defensive errors. We need to fix this and work on things and try to prevent this from happening in the future.

Is it Zenit losing or Orenburg winning?

I have a lot of respect for our opponents, but I think that we lost the match today. There were so many chances, so many opportunities to score, but we didn’t take them. I’ll say again, we need to look at things. Orenburg got the win, but we lost the game.
