Denis Adamov: "We're looking forward to these tournament games"

The Zenit goalkeeper spoke to us about things at the Gazprom Training Camp.
Denis Adamov: "We're looking forward to these tournament games"

How are you feeling at the start of the second Gazprom Training Camp?

Overall, I feel great. The weekend was good for us and we got a little rest. The first training camp was pretty tough, especially the last three or four days, when we had two training sessions daily and played 90 minutes too on the final day. I think that everyone got some rest at the weekend and returned to the second training camp feeling good.

Goalkeepers have their own special training regimes, what do you mostly do in training?

Actually at the first training camp, us goalkeepers did a lot of training with the outfield players, trained in the gym, and did lots of running with the outfield guys. We had some goalkeeper training to do, but not as much as during the season. I think there will be much more of it at the second and third training camps.

Tomorrow is the first friendly match of the second training camp against CSKA Moscow, what can you say about them and are you ready to face them?

We're looking forward to these tournament games, because it’s more enjoyable to play matches than to train. They’re probably under stress now too, everyone will not be in perfect shape yet.

What is the most important thing for you in friendly matches right now?

Getting match fit, getting into the rhythm of the game, and not getting injured are all important. Basically gradually getting into shape.

And interacting with defenders?

Of course. All this is a given. We want to restart the season in optimal shape.

What do you think about Abu Dhabi, how is it for training?

I remember we used to go to Turkey because everyone was always having training camps there, now we’ve come back to Abu Dhabi, and it’s as if we are home. For the last six or seven years, every team I have been with has come to train in Abu Dhabi. I’m used to it here, it has a good climate, and a lot of opponents are here, so everything is perfect.
