Sergei Semak: "We know the hardwork is ahead of us"

The Zenit manager spoke to the media after the 4-1 win away to Ural.
Sergei Semak: "We know the hardwork is ahead of us"

Today was a good match for us, we played well and got a good result, and we scored some nice goals. We're happy to be back at the top of the league. We know ther hardwork is ahead of us, with three teams bunched at the top, the league leader could change every week. We, have our job to do and must do it well. We'll find out who’s the luckiest at the end of the season.

Congratulations on the win, and scoring four, how would you evaluate Zenit today?

It was great, today I’m pleased with the team’s performance, with our movement and defensive actions. Today we had a good game and as I said, the lads did great. To play well, both with short passing and with our interactions was not easy on a pitch like today’s, but regardless, the lads did their best and played a top quality match.

Zenit seemed slower in their interactions today, was this because Krasnodar lost yesterday...

It didn’t seem that way to me. We played well and Ural tried to apply pressure, move, defend tightly and deep, there wasn’t much space available. I liked how we played today.

Mostovoy scored today, but he hasn’t had much playing time, there are rumours of interest in him from Toulouse. Can you comment on this? How would you rate his performance today and can he displace the Brazilians in the team?

As for rumors from unnamed sources this doesn’t interest me at all. I have no idea how true this is and I haven't heard this myself. Regarding Mostovoy, on the contrary, he’s had more playing time, he started the last match, but with such competition in the team, it all depends on Andrey. The level he’s playing at is enough to be in the starting lineup and help the team. He looks very good at the moment.

Did the pitch prevent you from playing good football today?

Well, I've already mentioned this a little. The pitch was difficult, but it was the same for both sides. There were some added difficulties for us as a team that builds its game through positional attacks and short passes, but we can’t get away from this, it’s that time of year so most pitches are not at their best, but that’s the same for everyone. We have to get used to it, and there's nothing you can do about it.
