Mauricio: "We must not lower our heads and get on with our work"

The blue-white-sky blue midfielder on the outcome of the confrontation with Anderlecht.
At the end of the match we lacked concentration. During the entire game, Anderlecht had just one shot on target and we scored three times. We managed to understand their game and gave it as much as possible. We won this match, though we were not able to go through. Now we must not lower our heads and get on with our work.

Zenit with Danny and without him, are we two different teams?

Of course, he's a long time favourite at Zenit. He is the captain and leader of the team as a player and as a person. He did everything he could and the whole team today gave it their all, not just Danny. but we lost on aggregate.

Should we have kept the ball away from our goal at the end? Someone should have given that order, the captain or the coach?

When we lose, we lose it all together, and it's not just the coach or captain. This also applies to when we win. Now I cannot say exactly who made a mistake at the end, the whole team lost.

Were you ready to play for 90 minutes?

I think today we showed good physical form. Clearly, this is only our second official match of the year and we will only get better.

Do you agree that in order to save the season, Zenit have to win the Russian title?

When we play in the Russian Championship, the Russian Cup and the Europa League, we think only about winning the tournament. Zenit are a great team that always fights for titles. Now we are left with only the championship, and to save the season will be difficult, but we will continue to fight for that victory.

Will having no matches in the Europa League make the Russian championship easier?

The Russian championship is not easy. I have been playing here for seven years and I can say that we have a very strong and competitive league in which all teams compete for three points in every match, it won't be easy.
