Alexander Kokorin: "I'm playing in my favorite position, where I have been playing all my life"

The Zenit forward on the win over Amkar.
A tough game of two halves. Everyone knows that Amkar play well in the defense, but it was lucky that we scored. We knew that if we manage to score, probably Amkar would have to end their defensive game and start to attack. We only scored in the second half and after that managed to keep the win.

After you scored, Smolnikov ran up to you and shouted: "I told you!" What was that about?

We practice a lot of combinations in training and today we did several things. We interacted well a few times, although I mainly played on the left-wing but this was a training moment.

Today, you handed out your shirts to the stands, was this in honor of the downpour?

No, we always try if possible to give our shirts out.

This was your sixth goal in the championship and the seventh of the season. What has changed things for you?

I'm shooting more and I'm playing in my favorite position and spending more time in attack. This is my favorite position, where I have played all my life. I think its just down to this.

How do you feel about playing every three days?

It is now the fourth day, so it was easier. But it's tough and with the artificial pitch too it was hard. At the end of the match the downpour came and it didn't look like an artificial pitch with all the mud.
