Zenit go out of the Cup in the Leningrad Derby

The blue-white-sky blues lost out 3-2 AET in an exciting match held at Stadium St. Petersburg.
Zenit were forced to play most of the game with 10 men as Melvja was sent off on 11 minutes for a professional foul. Zenit went behind on 37 and 43 minutes and the match looked bleak at half-time.

Kuzyaev's introduction on 55 minutes seemed to turn things around and Zenit scored two quick-fire goals, through Paredes (61) and Poloz (62) but the game then drifted into extra time. In the dying moments of the game Kaplenko gave away a penalty and Kolishev made no mistake from the spot to send Dynamo through to the next stage of the Russian Cup.
