Ivan Novoseltsev was born on 25 August 1991 in Moscow. He began his career at Khimki, before moves to Istra, Torpedo Moscow and Rostov, with whom he won a silver medal in the Russian championship.

In August 2016, Novoseltsev signed a contract with Zenit and has played 9 games for the club.
