Leon Musayev was born on 25 January 1999 in St. Petersburg and began playing for the Smena Academy aged six. He then progressed through the ranks of the Gazprom Academy and represented the club at all levels from juniors, U19s Zenit-2 and eventually the first team. Making his debut in February 2019 in the UEFA Europa League match against Fenerbahce.
Musayev played 21 matches for Zenit, won the Russian league title twice and the Russian Cup once while here in St. Petersburg.
