Malcom: "I finally feel able to show the real Malcom out on the pitch"

The Man of the Match spoke to us after scoring two against Khimki on his 100th game for Zenit
Malcom: "I finally feel able to show the real Malcom out on the pitch"

I always have special memories of each game and today I was able to score two more goals to help the team get the win, I’m delighted! I’m very happy with how the season is going. I finally feel able to show the real Malcom out on the pitch. Looking back at my previous seasons at Zenit, there were injuries that prevented me showing what I can do. Now everything has worked out and it shows how working hard on and off the pitch pays off. I am happy that we manage to play well today and we will try to continue to make the fans happy.

Today you played your 100th match for Zenit. Does this mean anything to you and will you or the team celebrate in any way?

This is special for me, it’s the first time I’ve played 100 matches for any club, and I think the best way to celebrate it is to spend time with your family, maybe we’ll go out for dinner. I still have quite a lot of my relatives here visiting me. We might go out, but there won’t be any big celebrations, because we have a game in the Cup on Wednesday. I won’t play in it, but I will be supporting the team. I am sure that the team will do their best to get the win in St. Petersburg.

You are joint top of the scorers charts with Quincy Promes are you looking to win the golden boot this season?

I’m really aiming to chase anyone or to win the golden boot race. I came to Zenit not for individual awards, but for team trophies. Individual awards are forgotten and its team victories, titles, cups that are remembered. I have already won quite a good number of trophies here and I want to continue. For me, this is the most important thing. The team will always be more important than the individual. If I do win the golden boot race, then great, but I will be happy if the team finishes top.
