The Zenit manager’s words on the upcoming match against Rostov.
Sergei Semak: “The match in Rostov won’t be easy, but it will be a good one”
Playing three matches in a week is not easy even at the beginning of the season. What would you say about the physical condition of the team before traveling to Rostov-on-Don?

“Judging by the last match, the first half went well and in the second half we weren’t as active. The guys are still improving their condition as it’s only the start of the season. Overall, the players have different fitness levels now.”

Rostov have had two wins in the first two matches of the season. What do you think of the team based on those games?

“They were playing well last year, and this year they’re once again showing what they’re capable of. Without a doubt the match won’t be easy, but it will be a good one.”

Is everything with Strahinja Eraković settled for him to travel with the team and get ready for the match?

“Yes, he is ready.”

Are you thinking about rotating the squad for the third match of the week?

“Obviously. All of the clubs make changes for Cup matches, some of them are bigger, some of them are smaller. Either way all of the teams rotate their squads as the schedule is very tight and two days are not enough to recover.”

The team has greeted Wendel when he returned. Is there any information on his fitness level and how long it might take for him to get ready to come on the pitch?

“Yesterday he passed medical checkups, so we’re going to analyze his condition and he will complete an individual test here too. His agent is searching for a reasonable option, and the player will be working with us until he finds a new club for himself.”

We’ve seen that Rodrigão attended the last match. When is he coming back?

“With him everything is going according to plan. He returned to Russia and trains individually. It’s difficult to speak of dates, but we don’t expect him to join the team up until September.”

Is everyone ready to face Rostov?

“Yes, everyone is ready.”
