Alexander Vasyutin: "When facing a penalty I try to concentrate as much as possible and use my instincts"

You had two outstanding saves in the penalty shootout, but let’s first talk about the 90 minutes, how was that for you?

We started very badly, but we showed character and in the first half to turn it around from 2-0 down to 3-2 up. We looked good after the break, had chances and scored.

Zenit conceded three goals, which is quite unusual for the team. Who can you blame for those goals?

It’s everyone’s of course. We'll have a look at it, I’d like to concede less.

Were you preparing for a penalty shootout towards the end of the game?

No, I didn’t want to add any pressure, there were a number of chances so I didn’t prepare myself in advance.

How do you approach each shot in a penalty shootout?

Nothing supernatural, I try to concentrate as much as possible and use my instincts.

In your subjective opinion, which goalkeeper in the squad is best at saving penalties?

Ha-ha-ha! You’ll have to ask Sergei Semak that (smiles).

This final question is not that serious, but Alexander, how often do you think about the Roman Empire?

Not very often. Mostly when I watch films or TV series about it.
