National Sports Day was held in the capital of Qatar on 13 February and part of the celebrations were a 10km race with amateur competitors from Russia, Spain, Egypt, Sweden, Ireland, Great Britain, the USA, Sri Lanka, India and several other countries took part. 

The Spanish coach won the Masters category (40+) in the 10km event, finishing in 45 minutes and 49 seconds, almost three minutes ahead of his nearest rival.
