Congratulations on your first goal for Zenit! How do you feel?
I’m very happy to have scored my first competitive goal for the club! I’ll be honest, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Speaking about the game, unfortunately, we failed to get the three points today, but results like this are part of football. We need to lift our heads and move forward.
Can you tell us more about your goal?
We attacked down the left wing and a cross came into the penalty area, the ball bounced to me and I managed to be in the right place at the right time. I took a shot, which was accurate and scored. Again, I’m very glad I scored, now we need to lift our heads and think about the next game.
Hulk, whose goal scoring record I’m sure you would like to break, also scored his first Zenit goal in Samara, and that match also ended in a draw. Is that a good sign?
It’s an interesting coincidence (smiles). Hulk is an amazing player and I am a fan of his, and he is still playing really well in Brazil. He left his mark on Zenit and the club’s history and I would like to do the same. I will give it my all to beat his goal scoring record in a Zenit shirt!
After you equalized the score, there were still a lot of the match to play, what stopped Zenit from winning?
We weren’t very good with our final ball, the quality of our passing wasn’t good enough. Plus we couldn’t take advantage of the chances we had. In the second half, Krylia’s goalkeeper played well and saved them for taking a loss. Again, this happens in football so let's move on.
Final question, was that a fair result?
Football has nothing to do with fairness. Sometimes a team plays great but loses, and sometimes a team plays awfully and wins. So there is no justice in football. I think we controlled the game, but came up short when it came to scoring.
