Mircea Lucescu: I understand the significance of this game, especially after seeing the atmosphere"

The Zenit Boss on the win over Spartak, the performances of Witsel and Lodygin and understanding what this win means to the fans.
Can you give a reason for Lodygin's errors today? Are they connected with the rotation of the 'keepers?

A lot of people are talking about this, I'm trying to change the way of thinking, from how it was before and not all the areas we've been working on have been finalised yet. I say this for the benefit of the team and for his own benefit. If we talk about the first goal, I have explained that if the ball comes at him from a free kick and bounces off the ground, he needs to parry it wide and not back out in front of him. He made a mistake and this led to a goal. We all make mistakes. Hopefully, as the teams change, players change their bad habits and Yuri will change.

What do you think of Spartacus as a rival and what did you say to the players at half-time?

For me, first and foremost, Spartak are a team we have to beat. They are a very strong opponent, who are in first place in the championship. I understand the significance of this game, especially after seeing the atmosphere before the match in the stadium. I saw the tension in the players, especially the Russian players. For example, Smolnikov was hyper-motivated and played one of his worst games of the season and I understand why. It was very important that we won and it is important that we analysed well the first half, but it was Lodygin's error, not the team's. Thank you to the team, we had to rescue him, and we did it. There are not any players blaming Yuri (Lodygin). I saw that all the players, without exception, wanted to help him in this situation and I want to point out what a good second half he had. All tried to support him and do everything possible to win.

Witsel had an almost perfect match today and even scored. What is the situation with his transfer?

Witsel is a professional and a professional footballer in his mentality. I have never felt him distracted, he always gives his all when out on the pitch. What happens in the future, we will know when the time comes. After each match he is truly happy and thoughtful. In this situation the press are the ones creating tension.

In the last game with Anzhi you were not very satisfied with the referee. Do you agree that today the ref was supportive of Zenit

The first thing I noticed is the fact that the "Sports Day By Day" newspaper was trying to find something in what I said, so I have no comment on this. This question is just to create controversy.
