Mircea Lucescu: "We will draw conclusions from the lessons that we learned today"

The Zenit Manager on the defeat to Anzhi and the controversial moments from the match.
This victory is deserved for Anzhi, they quickly adapted to the heavy pitch, were more aggressive and more ambitious. They deserved today's result. We started well and had the advantage, we started playing wide in midfield through Mak and Shatov, but soon we began to lose the advantage out wide. Perhaps everything would have changed if Dzyuba had scored from a few yards out. The match was over after Kerzhakov's dismissal. I would like to watch this incident again.

We then completely lost our calm and our organised game, we started to make poor offside decisions, which is unusual for our defence. Look at the passback where they scored. I regret that we didn't lose with more dignity. We should have been stronger and shook hands with our opponents, that episode at the end should not have happened. That's the only thing I regret. I would have liked to have gone further in the cup, but recently we had have difficult conditions, a number of injuries and players I have not seen play, Danny, Fayzulin and Ryazantsev have been joined by Criscito and Smolnikov. We should have stood together and shown that we can get out of such situations. As for the result in the Cup, There's no difference between 4-0 or 4-1, it doesn't matter in terms of the tournament.

Some Russian publications have written about your interest in Belenov (Ed- the Anzhi Goalkeeper). Is it true? And is that why Yurchenko played?

This is not true. I do not know anything about that. If we talk about their level, they are very good players. Anzhi have two good goalkeepers - Belenov and Yurchenko, who today played well.  We have a great group of players, but many are close to thirty years of age, we play every three or four days and in two days we have our third game in a week and it is not so easy. Especially on some of the pitches we play on. So it is necessary to make efforts during the winter break to strengthen the team, to review the year and to think who can play for Zenit and who shouldn't. We have matches in the championship and in the Europa League ahead of us. We will draw conclusions from the lessons that we learned today and we will see in the near future, in just two days against another team.

What was said in the dressing room after the match?

I was talking with the team, no longer than usual. It was very important. I was unhappy with the behaviour at the end of the game, once the referee has stopped the game, it does not allow people to him to push each other. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but you have to lose with dignity, especially at such a high level. We need to analyse what happened today as soon as possible. The result was shameful, for me and for the players.
