Information for Celtic fans attending the UEFA Europa League game in St. Petersburg

FC Zenit are looking forward to welcoming Scottish fans to our beautiful city for the last 32 encounter in the UEFA Europa League. We will do all we can to ensure you enjoy your stay in St. Petersburg.
The match will take place on Thursday 22 February at Stadium St. Petersburg, kick-off is at 9pm local time/6pm GMT.

Details on how to get to the stadium can be found here. However, the club arranges specialised transport to Stadium St. Petersburg from a convenient location for the fans, this is usually via buses from Sportivnaya metro station, near our former stadium in the city centre. This is organised through the visiting club's security service or official supporters club and they will be able to give you more information.

The club are in close contact with the British Consulate-General in St. Petersburg and together we will do all we can to ensure fans have a safe and enjoyable stay in Russia. At the game you can ask our stewards for help, a large number of them speak English and they will be happy to answer your questions. Our English-language twitter account is also ready to assist you.

If more serious problems do occur and you do need consular assistance (for example, you’ve been attacked, arrested or someone has died), call 007 812 320 3200. If you’re in the UK and worried about a British national in Russia, call 020 7008 1500.

Some further notes of advice

*The match is due to finish at 11 pm local time and in the event of extra time can finish close to midnight, please ensure your visa lasts long enough to enjoy your stay in Russia and does not expire on the day of the match.

*Avoid hailing taxis on the street and especially avoid the numerous taxi drivers you will encounter at the airport, they often overcharge tourists between five or ten times the actual cost of a ride. At the airport you will see desks and booths for official taxis, only use them. An official taxi from the airport to the city centre is usually around 1500 rubles (around 22 euros) but can be slightly higher depending on demand. Once in the city public transport is cheap, reliable and safe, with many of the announcements in English. If you do choose to use a taxi ask your hotel staff or barman to call one for you. There are also many smartphone applications you can use, with the most popular being available in English.

*No alcohol is allowed at football games in Russia and none is sold within the stadium. It is also forbidden in Russia to drink alcohol in public places, so please don't bring alcoholic drinks to the stadium with you. You may run into problems with local police if you are caught drinking on the street or in other public places.

We have prepared a more detailed guide to visiting our city here. But please don't worry, St. Petersburg is a very safe city for tourists and locals alike and it is highly unusual for visiting fans to have any problems whilst here. We hope you enjoy your stay and we'll see you at the match!
